So once again couldn't sleep to well last night - awake since about 4am!
Ended up getting up at 5:20am to a mass off pain from knees to back to toes - s*** I check blisters to find bad infection! So this has me worried as this is the number one reason people pull out of Camino! I tape blisters up chuck on my knee strap down a mammoth breakfast and take off in the pitch dark at around 6:10!
So the first part of today's journey is all up hill and along with the pain it's a struggle!
There are a couple others on the trail but I overtake them early to be alone on the trek until sunrises!
So many amazing vineyards with some of the tastiest grapes I have ever eaten scatter the countryside and fig trees are also in abundance so I grab a few each tree I pass!
I am making good time and distance so I stop to yarn with some Scottish couple - I then decide to also snack for 20 mins! Unfortunately when I go to start walking again my knee seazes up and gives me excruciating pain for the next 30 mins!
I reach the town 5km before my destination to the cheery smiles and waves of 5 solo travelers I had met the day before! I stopped for a chat and asked how far they were going? They were going to the next town along 10km after my destination! Easily persuaded I agree and say I will more then likely meet them there!
My body has other ideas and the last 3km are a bodily/mental struggle!
I arrive at my destination Estella by 11:15am after 23km and I am in agony!
I find the nearest Pharmacy and explain my knee dramas and blisters!
They load me up with painkillers and anti-inflammatory cream - charging an arm and a leg for it!
I run into a Korean guy with bad blisters and do some translations for him into my bad Spanish. Seems the language is coming back to me!
I immediately feel some relief and decid to go to supermarket for lunch!
I am feeling I could push it another 10km (uphill) well my mind could but would my body follow!
I am now sitting in a park waiting for 1:30pm when the Albergue will open to pilgrims! Looks like I will be staying in Estella tonight!
Arrived at Church Albergue to a wonderful reception from a couple from Canadia who now run it!
Rest and repair time!
