Well last night myself Borna and Phil stayed in the Attic of a small church and decided to make a huge feast which included tortilla Patates, tuna-feta-onion-cucumber-tomato-corn-lettuce-olive-salad, bread and custard for desert! As you can see we brought too much and I ending up having to eat for two!
This morning we woke to terrible cold drizzly weather and for the first time I had to get my poncho out! The rain kept up for about 2.5 hours and we were all glad to see the end of it! Unfortunately the rain stopped but the wind came and the whole day was a struggle!
Today we decided to go two towns past our destination and walked 32km in less then 6 hours with a record pace of around 6km an hour! I steamed ahead today as the cold was killing me and the faster I walked the quicker I would arrive.
So it's fair to say today was not enjoyable at all and there was no smelling the roses or breathing the fresh air it was more like head down and go. Having had bad weather for the last 4-5 days it is really playing on our minds and everyone is preying for the sun to come out! The weather is very strange for this time of year apparently!
One nice thing about today was my knee pain had subsided so I am thankful for that!
So we arrived into Hontanas a small town in a valley! It is actually quiet a nice little village completely catering for Pilgrims! I was so hungry when I arrived I payed my money and rushed to make myself a huge salad and sardine salad!
I felt a very bad blister come on about 5km out and now I am hobbling about the place!
Another drama with the weather is trying to get clothes dry in the cold and wet, it just doesn't work but after two days without washing I had to today!
The Camino is certainly throwing everything at us and there is surely never a dull moment!
Sitting in the Albergue I notice many of the pilgrims are in sad and somber moods due to this horrible weather!
It really rings true that a little sunshine can brighten your day!
