After not a lot of sleep last night due to Mosquitos and my burnt lip I was up at 4am to say goodbye to my Portuguese friends. I decided to go back to bed for few hours but still get an earlyish start as there was rain expected.
I took off by about 8:15am and there was rain for most of the morning - just drizzle really on and off not really enough to warrant rain gear but I did cover my pack.
The aim today was to reach Pontevedra 18km by 1pm as Pontevedra Albergue is very popular and fills up quickly.
I am starting to get the hang of doing the Camino backwards and using intuition and directions to minimize getting off track. Today's walk was very scenic and really hot - even though there was rain the temperature was quite high! I crossed 26 people on the Camino today - which gives you an idea that there are not so many people walking the Portuguese way.
I walked past quiet a few chestnut trees so I stopped and filled a bag up - of which I will cook up later.
I met some more wonderful people today on the Camino - the kind that don't mind stopping for a chat and to exchange info.
My pace picked up significantly today and I managed to get the 18km done in 3 hours and had myself a nice break!
Checking into my Albergue at 1pm just as the thunder and lightning and heavy rain started!
Thankfully I am inside and warm and have just found a novel in the dining area - the catcher and the rye - a novel I always wanted to read but never had chance :)
