Start of third day, had a bit of trouble sleeping last night wondering how all my soar bits would handle today!
Anyways I was up at 5:30 along with another 30-40 early birds! Today instead of rushing off in the dark I took my time had a good breakfast, dressed all my blisters and strapped my knee!
Leaving Pamplona by about 6:30am and within 30 minutes was dripping sweat - I am now in real Spain!
I walked about an hour and a half in the dark and made it out past Cizur Menor!
Next challenge 400 meter accent! The pain in the body really sets in when you climb or decent and I am sure these are the most dangerous parts!
I reached the high point 790 meters by 9:15am and sat down for some honey and peanut sandwiches along with some tortilla patatas my favorite!
Next there was a steep decline for around an hour followed by some incredibly scenic treks through fields surrounded by various fruit trees and bushes! I ate figs, mulberries and delicious grapes so much so I had an intense sugar rush!
By the time I reached my destination: Puente La Reina, I was well and true lily ready to call it a day my feet were soaking wet my blisters hurting and my knee in agony!
I arrived at about 11:40am which meant 5 hours and 10 minutes today to walk 25.8km! My pace is fast but I really want to slow it down - I feel it hard to dordle like others do and take hour breaks! I certainly enjoy the scenery and take rest when needed!
Unfortunately I am now a day ahead of my friends I met and started with! However I am meeting the most wonderful people every inch of the way and with language as no barrier I have shared moments with people from all walks!
One thing about the Camino you don't meet bad people :)
My Accomodation tonight is at the Convent Albergue for €4 - with all the modern facilities - unbelievable I know with 100 beds!
Today I shall rest let the wounds heal and maybe wonder about the city!
My appetite has increased 10 fold and I am sure I am eating double what I usually do but your body craves fuel from sugar and sweet to oily calorie dense foods!
I am living on Raisens, nuts, bread, honey and any meat I can find - whilst also sampling all the fruits along the trail and local Spsnish cuisine when it presents itself!
After a wonder around this small town and an afternoon of resting I went shopping and found a small market selling loads of Veges specially peppers (capsicums) even roasted!
The Albergue tonight is full of Middle age Spanish groups and unfortunately none too friendly!
Its strange last night I met some wonderful people and everyone wanted to chat?
Oh well tommorow is a new day and I am sure I will meet some more wonderful people!
