After 5 whole days rest I was ready to get walking again today!
Although it was very nice having a cosy flat, tv, kitchen etc I did find myself becoming very comfortable and constantly feeling lazy.
I headed off at about 8:00am and made my way back onto the trek! Today's destination was Villafranca at about 23.5km - the perfect distance to check out how my shins would hold up.
I wasn't on the Camino 5 minutes before I ran into two lovely old ladies I had stayed with over 2 weeks ago - we had a good chit chat, told stories and managed to get slightly lost before I said buen Camino and was off!
I walked as slow as possible today and although there was pain in my shins it was manageable. I was treated the whole way to perfectly ripe purple figs - I once again ate so many I gave myself a tummy ache! Sometimes I get lucky and find a dried fig my absolute favorite! I also found and collected wild pears and grapes :) I really took my time today and enjoyed the walk, funny too I didn't see so many people on the road!
You can feel the weather changing as we move into Gallicia - colder and more cloud cover!
The Albergue I have booked into in Villafranca del bierzo is a strange place but full of character so should be an interesting evening!
I have missed the road and so it is comforting to be back on it!
