Eight weeks in America, four weeks at BSSM. What are my reflections?
The first week at the school as previously described was quite daunting however the following three weeks have been more settled. For me, the prospect of settling into an academic type routine is challenging although this school is probably less academic than most other Bible Training Schools.
The average day comprises at least one hour of live worship followed by at least one sometimes two lectures which go for around an hour each. Other activities during the day vary but include small group meeting on one day; revival group meeting on one day; advanced ministry training on one day; and activation on one day (putting into practice out in the community the things that we're learning.)
I have been made a small group leader (surprise surprise!) over three other young men who are also passionate worshippers and seekers after Jesus . I'm expecting this will be a group that'll be very significant over the next eight months, with me probably as the father figure to these guys but, I have an anticipation that they will also speak into my life and challenge me in areas where I am sure I need to grow.
It would be hugely remiss of me not to acknowledge the amazing sacrifice that Carole has made in relation to releasing herself from the school and instead, minding the grandchildren so as to allow Bree and Sam to fully engage in the school. I so honour her and find her an amazing woman of God with a huge servant heart being a role model for many. My prayer is that God will give her more then she would've gained had she been at the school. I believe in part, He is already doing this.
There have been many challenges not least of which is the fact that we have been without rental income from our home is Crooked Lane due to the fact that we have had difficulty in renting it out. It's almost as if the Lord has put a block on the rental (temporarily) for reasons that only He knows. But for reasons that will work out for our good (Rom8.28).
Sunday evening services continue to be a major highlight of our week as they were last year when we visited Bethel Church.
Tomorrow, being Saturday, we are intending to go to the Healing Rooms as observers. We have begun Healing Rooms training which occurs on Tuesday nights; these have been absolutely amazing instructive teaching sessions that will, no doubt impact our future ministry.
Thanks for following us.
