Decided this morning that we will get to Perth today as the impending rain and storms means there is no point hanging around the beach and we don't want to get stuck or bogged in muddy flats in bad weather.
Drove into the nearby town of Lancelin and had a look at the windy, rough surf beaches. We are fish and chips in town and bought some local produce to take to our friend in Perth. Then we headed out to the Lancelin sand dunes, where you can hire a sand board and drive right out to the dunes and climb up the white as snow sand hills and slide down for as long as you like. Gadi enjoyed sliding down the hills with Cadbury running up and down the hills and frolicking like a puppy.
We were so lucky today that instead of the predicted rain we had gorgeous sunshine and could enjoy the blindingly white sand dunes in the sunshine -
And we got to see a rainbow just as we were leaving!
We then drove through some more seaside towns including Ledge Point and Seabird before stopping in Two Rocks at the marina where there are two large sand stone rocks just off shore. We enjoyed the beach and sun shown before pushing on through the northern beach suburbs of Perth before reaching our destination of Cottesloe just on dark and just as the rain began to fall. Once more Gadi reversed the caravan into a tight driveway in the dark and wet conditions. We were glad to have arrived before the rain set in.
We spent the evening catching up and making plans for when our kids come to stay from Melbourne on Wednesday.
Tonight we are snug in our little home on wheels, just up the road from the beach, listening to the rain pelting down on the roof.
Night night xx
