This morning we packed up and left the historic Lynton Station and drove to Geraldton via a slightly longer road via the scenic Chapman Valley. The landscape was incredibly picturesque, with dark green rolling hills, fields of bright yellow canola and dramatic hillocks rising up in the distance.
We spent the day in Geraldton, and were impressed with the HMAS Sydney memorial and the beautiful (albeit very windy) coastline. We especially liked the point, which has some of the best kite surfing in the country (the wind is obviously a good thing for this sport!).
After doing a supermarket shop, we headed east out of town past dozens of impressive windmills to Ellendale Pool, to camp for the night.
This place has a very pretty swimming hole (despite signs warning of contracting meningitis from swimming if the water is over 24 degrees). This place was a private farm for many years but is now available to day trippers and campers to enjoy.
We sat in the late afternoon sunshine by the pool, enjoying some cheese, olives and wine as we watched the sun light up the limestone cliffs. Just on dark the day visitors disappeared, leaving only a handful of caravans and motor homes here for the night.
Cooked veggie soup for dinner and we were astounded to discover we had TV reception as we haven't had reception for weeks in WA. Got our fix of ABC election updates and I ended up hopping into bed early and crashing out.
Sweet dreams I hope xx
