Left the sports ground where we'd been camping overnight in Norseman around 10.30am and headed off to see some lookouts around town. We were impressed with the nearby lookout above the Norseman Goldmine, which is still a working mine today. Norseman and the surrounding Dundas Shire has a rich gold mining history going back over 100 years. We then explored some nearby salt lakes which were incredible to see as they spanned both sides of the road and went for miles. One side was rosy pink in colour and the other was blindingly white, looking more like an ice lake than a salt lake.
We stopped for lunch at a dam south of Norseman and continued south towards Esperance. We decided to stop for the night at a tiny town called Grass Patch where you can stay at a community caravan park for $20 including power and water - and the drawcard for us is free washing machine. Our washing has piled up over the last week and all the towels and sheets need a wash desperately. There are only eight spots for caravans but all the other sites are taken up by seasonal farm workers.
We spent the afternoon doing our washing and just chilling out in the afternoon sun. Today is the warmest day we've had for a while. Ate dinner outside by candlelight and decided to watch the Australian classic, Rabbit Proof Fence - we are in Western Australia so thought this was a good choice.
Getting late now so time to say good night xx
