Packed up this morning - always a lot to do when you've been in one place for a while.
We finally left Cottesloe in Perth at 1pm, knowing we were only planning to drive a little over 100km east to the tiny heritage-listed town of York.
It's always a bit odd to drive towing the caravan after we have been in one place for a while. You forget how heavy it is and how cumbersome, but most of all you forget how much other drivers hate sitting behind you and do their best to pass you or cut you off.
Once we negotiated the city fringe traffic and found ourselves on the open road we could finally relax and feel the excitement of heading to a new place.
The landscape along the way was lush green farmland dotted with tall spotted gums and fields of yellow canola.
By mid afternoon we arrived in York, WA's oldest town after Perth and headed straight to the town's free camp in the middle of town in a lovely park setting on the Avon River. Amazingly, the town of York provides power for four self sufficient caravans free of charge. We were caravan number four, and after waiting for a bit until a small car (who surprisingly was plugged into the power) moved away, we plugged in to power.
We spent the afternoon chatting to our neighbours (fellow Victorians) and the husband kindly lent Gadi a drill and helped him drill through the wall to install the point for our satellite dish so it doesn't have to go through the window.
We realised late afternoon that we'd skipped lunch today so I cooked a delicious veggie and lentil soup while Gadi went for s quick walk into town before the shops close. We will check out this cute town properly tomorrow morning.
Chilled out in the evening in our lovely little home on wheels, grateful for all our wonderful travel adventures we have had to date, and looking forward to the adventures ahead.
Night night - how lucky we are to be able to warm up with the heating on. It's going to be a very cold tonight xx
