Tag 4 Bonac
All day sunshine. Weather can't be better, but my feet hurt and my legs are scratched from many bushes and burned from stinging nettles.
This morning, after a short, stiff climb for about 300m, I had a marvelous view. I think, I was the first on the summit (Serre d'Arraing", 2221m), which somehow makes it special. Two other hiker followed, so one of them could take a picture of me :-)
Afterwards came a long downhill part (1300m) which was not so easy. In between, I crossed "La Mine Bentaillou", a closed mine which looks quite ghostly (makes me think of the "Mines of Moiria"). Afterwards another 1000m up and then I deliberately left the GR10 to go for GR10E- a variation that allowed me to stay in a refuge tonight that serves food.
The path went straight north. I always thought it would be cooler, when going north, but this was not the case, it was really hot and I thought I would walk forever. But suddenly, I was there and found my gite d'Etappe. The "Relais Montagnard" is again a special place. Located in the small mountain village Bonac, right next to the church, it is more like a Hippie-Cafe, with cool, (but loud) easy-listening music, and people with very colorful clothes sitting around, drinking even more colorful drinks. I enjoy my Panache after my long 8 h hike.
