Day 38. To Lavacolla
Lavacolla is where pilgrims in medieval times would stop to wash and purify before walking into Santiago. Another long walk today of 28 km in order that we can finish the remaining 11 km into Santiago and attend the pilgrim mass at noon. Winds of 55 kph today with some rain and warm. Great walking day. This area is quite tropical with grapes again, some palm trees and prickly pear cactus.
The picture is a typical room with us flopped out with elevated feet, trying to recover.
Everyone we have known is anxious for the walk to end and to be home. One or two are walking to Finisterre, another 4 days. My left foot is getting worse and takes 4-5 Camino candies and several km In the morning before I can get into a rhythm and get to a normal pace. Lynn slows for me in the am; I slow for her at the end of the day.
