Day 37. To Arzua
Again a nice walking day but a bit long especially for Lynn; 29 km and she was a hurting turtle for the last two hours. Now 2 days and 39 km to Santiago.
The picture is of pan (bread) delivery vans as we started out today. Pan is delivered here to houses like newspapers at home. The van races into each hamlet and honks it's horn loud and long so all the housewives and cafe owners come out and get what they want. We have even seen pan sitting in open sacks at the back of a pick up truck as it bumps along the country lane in the rain. Cash and carry only. Pan will be one of strongest memories of Spain as it is served everywhere in great quantities.
Toenails will make it to Santiago and home as I just gave them their final treatment and tape-down so they are not going anywhere.
We walked through a small town called Melide which is famous for it's pulpo. Don't quite know why as it is way inland and pulpo is octopus. We had some at a tapas bar a few days ago and quite unlike what we see in sushi bars. Pulpo seems to be the internal parts, not the tentacles. Once was enough.
We are now 3 days walking with the 5 day walking crowd, although we're starting earlier than most so walking pretty much yourselves. Lots of limpers; everyone has just about had enough, including us. Seeing tons of taxi signs posted on trees. They have a captive audience.
