Day 10 To Najera
Sad to admit but the great navigator got lost in the dark this morning before the sun was up and added about 3 km to our walk. Lynn maintained her humor as we had a great coffee stop in a town we would otherwise bypass. Not a long day but hot again; one more day of the heat wave and it cools to the high 50's (10C) for a while and hot again next week.
My new shoes were treating me so well until I took them off today and found my left big toenail hanging by a flap. Likely to say bye to it tomorrow. Amazing that I feel absolutely no pain there. Anyone have advice, text my cell pls. TMI again? I need this for my memoirs!
We have heard about Spain's immigrant problems and see them today. There are about 50 men, Nigerian, Moroccan, Ghana. I don't know. They sit around the bus station all day with their bags and cardboard stacked up. After crowds go to bed, they spread in the park to sleep. We are told they are registered with the government and can't work until they are legal. Several years. They seem to cause no trouble and pray regularly in the Muslim manner. A poor life but maybe one with some hope compared to home. Really sad to see people in such terrible circumstances.
And so to bed for an early start.
