Day 12. To Belorado
Finally the weather broke to something we would recognize at home; 10 C and cloudy with very light showers. Fairly long day for us, 23 km, and it felt very easy as our feet are not developing new problems and the old ones are disappearing. Except the toe which I still won't look at. Bought some Epsom salts today we think although with the language issue it could be laundry soap. Will give the toe a soak tonight when the painkiller (vino tinto) fully kicks in.
We have now walked 235 km and are 30 percent of the way to Santiago, with 555 km to go. Loving the walk and the cultural experience and the thinking / talking time as to what is next for us. No doubt we will make it unless we trip and get an injury or a knee or ankle acts up. No sign of it. A woman from Ottawa we met a few times had to quit due to a knee twice normal size.
Picture attached shows our new friends from Geneva we mentioned a few blogs ago who walk and stay in their motorhome. Came across them today parked in the tiny village (pop 50) of Villamayor del Rio. The motorhome is getting old but they can never trade it in 'cause it has a sticker from every country they've visited, and that's just about everywhere except Africa. Very interesting couple & seem genuinely fascinated in the lives of everyone they meet.
Another great pilgrim meal with the meat 1/10 of an inch thick but great quality and taste. Veal, pork and beef all look and taste the same so not sure we actually get the real thing ever. Don't care either. White bean soup to die for which means Lynn will find the recipe and we will have pots of it at home until we can eat no more! Even of it doesn't taste the same.
Hasta Luego.
