Day 32 and 33. Today we made an early start. We were driven the 70 ks to Lake Argyle where we took a 2 hour cruise on this amazing lake, or rather, inland sea. The boat has to be ocean going to cruise the lake. It is called the Kimberley Durack after the man who had the vision to dam the Ord and provide this amazing water resource. The water vanishes over the horizon like the Pacific Ocean. Calm when we there, it can have 2 metre waves. Then on to the Durack homestead, transported from its original site when Lake Argyle was formed. We were interested to learn that Kimberley Durack spent his last years in Canberra and is buried there. He died just before the dam was started. We lunched at the LA Resort which has a most beautiful swimming pool, which is high above LA.
After lunch, we boarded another vessel for the 50 odd k. journey down the Ord to Lake Kununurra. Our young driver gave us a wonderful run down the river. There were times when we could have waterskied behind the boat! But we saw lots of crocs and birds and rock
formations and plant and insect life. And an amazing sunset.
Day 33 has been wonderful for other reasons. We met with our Dr here in Kununurra and he has given RM the all clear to continue with our journey. We have the necessary prescriptions and don't need another test until we get back home, as long as RM stays well. I have had to invest in a small filing system to keep track of all the paperwork!
