Days 35 and 36. We farewell beautiful Kununurra, our friends Fred and Savanah, Helen and Kevin. Mal and Vickie, Michelle and their dog BB have already left for the Bungles. They were all a terrific support during RM's medical emergency. We took in flowers and a thank you card to the staff at the K. Hospital and a thank you card for the office staff at Hidden Valley CP.
We both drove on this leg towards Halls Creek. We stopped at a beautiful little camp spot on the Little Panton River just short of Halls Creek. We are a nice group of 3 vans and a 70 year old woman bike hiking to Perth. Her name is Liz and she is from the Mornington Peninsula - Mt Eliza- in Victoria. She has ridden her bike all over the country, often alone, as she is now. What a woman! RM took comfort from her after learning that she is on the same medication as he is and still cycling Oz! Our neighboring van people lit a fire and we all sat around having a drink and a chat as dusk fell. Then dinner round the fire under the stars. RM was surprised it was only 7.30 when we retired to our van. Said it felt like midnight!
Elle likes it here. A river to poke about in, a man fishing she could watch with doggy interest, people who like dogs and she is the only one available, so loads of pats and food treats. And not being tied up. The only drawback is three cornered jacks which get into her paws. I found her sitting mournfully on the concrete of a picnic table area with one paw in the air, waiting to be rescued. She usually hates you touching her feet but is very good about being relieved of jacks.
