Day 37 and 38. Another easy drive had us in Derby by lunchtime. Derby is at the other end of the Gibb River Road and a jumping off place for that road trip. Derby is on the massive King Sound and has the greatest tidal range in Oz. Our van park is on the edge of the tidal flats! We are about 2 inches above sea level and in the absence of wind, we should be OK. Lovely park. We walked the 3 ks to the jetty with Elle last night to watch the sunset. It was spectacular. We discovered a lovely cafe on the jetty and Elle was invited in, so we all 3 stayed for dinner. The couple in a neighboring van turned up there too so we ate together. Coincidences abound on this trip, but Mary taught at my old high school, Narrabeen Girls High. A few years after I left of course.
Today we plan to cycle back around the jetty and the town. Not a hill in sight so perfect for an easy cycle.

JUNE Have enjoyed hearing your impressions of Fitzroy Crossing Hall'sl Creek and Derby - we still look back on the time we spent there with pleasure. Richard is obviously in good form..
