Day 24. RM arrived in Darwin OK last night. I took Elle for a long walk early this morning where she confronted a boab tree. It did look a bit like a very large person looming over the track. Her hackles were up and she froze. I think she was a bit embarrassed when she realized what it was. She is missing the 'boss'!
Later walked for an hour in the Mirima or Hidden Valley NP. A walk entrance is 2 mins from the van and you vanish into some amazing rock formations and bush. Hot day so the pool here, even though the water comes from the Antarctic, was a welcome diversion at midday.
The first CAT scan RM had was clear. While he was still at the hospital, he lost vision in his left eye for 10 mins. Another scan was ordered covering a different area. We await this result. Meanwhile, RM has been admitted to Darwin Hospital and will see a neurophysician tomorrow, the same specialist that has been advising the hospital doctors. This specialist has started RM on medication to treat, we think, Temporal arteritis or inflammation of the arteries. Hope this is the problem as a full recovery is made from this condition, after medication kicks in. His symptoms certainly tick many of the boxes for this condition and the first CAT scan shows no sign of anything worse. Here's hoping!
