European Adventure 2017
Saturday morning and it was time to say goodbye to Edinburgh. We are all going in different directions for a while - Ryan back home via Dom and Bex, Mandy and Charlie off to the East Coast, Lidka and Leicester will stay around this area for a while to catch up with friends, and we head off down the west side to take in the sights and to say a final goodbye-for-now to family. Although we have only have a couple of weeks of our holiday left we are having a brief sojourn to the Czech Republic for three days prior to finishing up in the UK. From Edinburgh we decided that since we were so close to Glasgow we should shoot over and take a look. Despite warnings along the motorway saying that heavy rain was forecast the sun shone for most of the day with no rain at all. We found a park and ride and hit the subway into the central city to find it buzzing just like Edinburgh. There were crowds of people across the full width of Buchanan Street (the main St) with heaps of buskers and music. The young people were out in force with many in fancy dress so there was a real vibe in the air. We managed a little bit of retail therapy before the rural part of the country beckoned again and we hit the road for a lovely little farm stop half way between Glasgow and Carlisle. Now we are heading for the border we will take with us many fond memories of Scotland. The natural beauty of the landscape, the lochs, the heather, the friendliness of the people, hanging baskets of flowers, and whiskey and shortbread - two of Geoff's favourite things! The ease of travel with the wider roads and the ability to freedom camp just add to this.

mum You obviously fell in love with Scotland as we did. There is still plenty to see on the East side and across the top so plenty to look forward to next ti me. Did the closing phase of the Tattoo give you goose pimples and tears?
