European Adventure 2017
What better way go start the day that by "thrashing" the Poms at rugby! We left our camp site by 8.15 and turned up at the local Whitstable Rugby Club rooms and were relieved to find it open with a few locals there with the big screen going. We were all decked out in black and had several All Black flags and although at first they wondered what they had struck, we received a very warm welcome. Eventually there were probably about 25 to 30 of them and we were welcome support for their lone AB supporter. We bought bacon butties and coffee at the cafeteria and had a lot of fun. The bar opened just before 10am and it was obvious that some of them were set to be there for most of the day!
Afterwards we headed off to the Canterbury Cathedral. We stopped at a Park and Ride facility which not only caters for cars but has a large space dedicated to Motorhomes and has waste disposal facilities, toilets and for only £3 the vehicle can stay there all day and overnight. The same ticket to enter is the bus ticket used to rife the bus into and out of town. Not bad for £3 in total. The Cathedral itself was stunning and we spent a good amount of time looking around at the amazing stained glass windows and other beautiful artifacts. The number of people around the streets blew us away. There were crowds of people everywhere. I especially loved the quaint streets with the old buildings. As it was now my turn to feel not so well we cut our visit short and headed back to the van.
Our stay for the night is fairly close to Dover at a place called Hythe ready for a morning departure to France. Geoff is outside now putting stickers on the headlights ready for driving on the other side of the road.
Early night for me I'm afraid. Hope I'm feeling better tomorrow.
