European Adventure 2017
On Tuesday morning which was yet another warm day we headed off up the North coast of Cornwall into Devon and into one of its most famous villages, Clovelly. Here the steep cobbled street winds it's way down the almost vertical hillside to its tiny harbour. Unusually this village is privately owned and has been in the same family since 1738 and their policy is to preserve it as much as possible as it would have been in the mid 19th century. Traffic is banned and so you park at the top and walk down. In days gone by they used donkeys and sledges to get things up and down. From there we headed up to Bideford and family - mums cousin Jenni and her husband Nick. We stayed in the campervan up the drive of their lovely home and met their two beautiful grandchildren, Alice and Jack. We had a lovely time with them, unfortunately it was only for one night as we had been offered 'a slot' at auto Sleeper factory on the Thursday morning and they are not easy to come by. Thursday morning we arrived at Autosleeper and I must admit as I thought about writing this blog yesterday I was going to give them a serve regarding their customer service but by the end of the day things had turned completely around and ended a very fruitful day. And it was a full day really. We arrived at 9.30am and didn't leave until 4. While our baby was in the workshop we walked into the local Cotswold village of Broadway which was really delightful. Much different from many of the villages we had been in before as this one had lovely green spaces and the roads were wider. There was also far less tourists. The collection of boutique shops and eateries was quite delightful and we managed to spend a very pleasant afternoon there. I'm sorry to have to report that front page of the paper yesterday was warning of a pending heatwave. We had our first 30degree day yesterday in the UK yesterday with similar temperatures forecast for today. We had a spectacular thunderstorm over night. Last night we stayed at a 16 century pub in Herefordshire which is part of the Britstop system. This stop certainly helped us in our rehydration.
