European Adventure 2017
Well here we are back in Wales and this time in Swansea visiting friends. I have corresponded with Jane for more than 30 years but we have only met three times, still when we are together it is as if we have been close friends for years. Really lovely and a wonderful relaxing break for us. We walked from their fabulous house in the grounds above Clyne Castle in Swansea to Mumbles where we had a drink and took in the view. Mumbles is home to the world's first passenger railway which was opened in 1806, boasting 5 million passengers in 1933. Over two days we walked the entire length of the original railway. At the museum we saw a replica of the worlds first steam engine to run on rails. It ran in Myther Tydil which is not far from here. Along from the museum was a high tower with a restaurant on top so we went up to get the view from the top. We had a very nice lunch today at the Fairy Hill Hotel after a visit out to the Worms Head on the coast. A fairly windless day and beautiful sunshine so it was the best possible day to visit. The hang gliders and para gliders dotting the skies made a very colourful picture. However, the best place to have a steak is on David's barbecue on the roof of his house... Superb!
