European Adventure 2017
Being close to the sea the wind was pretty strong and it blew a lot during the night. It was also pretty cold first thing so it wasn't too far removed from being at New Brighton in Christchurch. We had decided that we should all do our own thing today and perhaps everyday and then catch up in the evening to compare stories. First on my list was a haircut and Mandy was keen to do the same. They headed off to do Brighton Pier first but I found a hairdresser 5 minutes away and headed there. Not as good as my hairdresser Steph but not bad at all. After that we headed for the Pier about an hour behind Lidka and Leicester. He is the birthday boy today but he's trying to play it down. I enjoyed wandering the Pier. Not my cup of tea but you can certainly see that the kids and young people would really love it. The beach is made up of very large pebbles but is a fantastic colour. There is entertainment galore of all types and for all ages. We wandered up into the town and found a lovely area called the Lanes which is a maze of tiny lanes all filled with restaurants of every type you can imagine. There was live jazz in one area and tables all out on the street fronts in the sunshine under colourful umbrellas. A lovely buzzy area with plenty of atmosphere. We found ourselves a little Italian place and shared a pizza for lunch. Later we moved on towards Arundel where we were going to have a look around but as the traffic was building we just looked at the magnificent castle from afar and moved on to where we are tonight, another Brit Stop. This time it is another farm and we have parked up in a field next to a wheat paddock - especially for Leicester, who grows wheat back home, in case he is getting homesick! Mandy and Charlie are in Worthing not far away visiting a relative of Mandy's so if we don't see them later tonight we will catch up again tomorrow.

mum I took my first swimming strokes on the other side of the pier, which is the Palace Pier, when a big wave lifted me off my feet, there was no stopping me after that. Used to buy little bowls of cockles which were sold at little stalls on the pier, along with whelks and smoked eel.guess more sophisticated now.
Logan Kidd Wish I was here
