I have a confession to make...
Until today, I had only truly been to the beach twice during my entire stay in California. And one of those two times was at night.
And I'm living in freakin' San Diego!
Why is it always the way? How is it that you can live so close yet go so rarely?
So, having finally finished finals [wow, look at that alliteration!] this morning, my lovely flatmate Joy and I decided to celebrate by taking a trip to the beach. And this reassured me how very glad I was my wonderful mother convinced me to go to UC, rather than the Uni of New Mexico, even though they did get way better holidays. Don't know how I would handle living 16 hours from the beach.
There's something so refreshing about going to the beach, paddling in the water, playing in the sand, sunbathing on the rocks... Reminded me of home... And summer holidays.
For anyone planning on visiting San Diego, the beach is a must-see. It's gorgeous.
Tomorrow's the first day of spring break, the measly one week break in between quarters here. So about 20 of us UCSDians are going to wake up at some ridiculously early hour of the morning [by holiday standards anyway] and head off on a long, long drive somewhere...
Watch this space to see where and why!
Also, check out my photo album for beach pics, including a big "I Heart NZ" in the sand - sorry to copy ya Rach!
