Day 2
We are behind in sending the blog as WiFi is apparently sparsely available.
Up at 6:30 and both feeling great. Amazing how a sleep can heal the pains. Downstairs and ready to roll at 7 just to find the hotel checkout opens at 8:30, and eventually, we found, not a minute earlier. Very frustrating to watch everyone getting started.
When we did start we were going like scalded monkeys for about an hour until reality set in. Another long day ahead and I made a huge mistake. Took the guidebooks at their word and wore a second pair of socks to prevent blisters. Now have blisters on both feet where I have never had them in the 300 miles I have owned these boots. This will be a problem for days and days. Socks in the garbage and wore my sandals the last 12 km. Like a real pilgrim of olde. I carried a pack all day and we sent only one ahead. Think Lynn needs another few days before she can carry a full pack.
Talked to a guy from Moncton who is walking El Camino for the Sixth time. My god I would not want to go thru the first two days even once more.
In a pension for the night and fortunately it stocks cerveza and vino. Life Is Good....but I still need that foot rub!
