Laura + india = hatered . . .
I think it is clear that Laura is not a fan of india. I hadn't realised how accustomed I'd become to it all
The day started jumping off the train and walking through the city centre making our way out towards accommodation, where I'd said at any point you wana stop for drinks, food or rickshaws shout out, as I know ill just walk and walk and walk.
En route with my backpack strapped to my back, yoga mat swinging round my neck and handbag being hugged like a baby, I went to avoid kids as we were walking on the path, I always walk on the road but I fear lauras safety there! I went to step over a drain, a square minging hole in the ground, when I stepped I missed the ledge fell into the drain, bashing both knees and tumbled sideways out the drain onto the road in the ditch next to a parked car. Well, this of course was incredibly hilarious, and painful, but I was stuck I couldn't get up with the weird weight distribution of baggage. Eeee this was all I needed, so the knees swelled later and got bruises and bled, leading to a daily chemist hit today for anti septic cream.
I was expecting minging accommodation for ridiculous prices and that was what we were greeted with. So we had a look at a couple places, of course stopping for pee stops behind cars etc. When we decided on a place we got turfed as we didn't have our passports, only photo copies, as the passports are at the chinese embassy. So it was git 'uh oh'. But we managed to get a realy minging place that would accept us. Beggars can't be choosers at janata guest house.
My first bucket indian shower, I've always had a proper shower, madness. We set off and walked along the beach and ended up in a posh a/c restaurant where I was crying with laughter at the stupid things I now do which I consider normal but back home I would get popped into the nutty house. So we were howling with laughter.
Headed to the train station, which resulted in a repeat of lostness of varanasi, walking in triangles and not getting anywhere. booked train tickets to aurangubad for the morning.
We wandered the streets, and went down into the markets where people were celebrating, it was the end of their month fast, so drums, fireworks, music, etc. Laura absolutely despised it, as all day we had been harrassed and it got worse, we had one guy asking for our number so I had to forcefully push him away, we managed after a few wrong directions from indians who don't know where they are on the map to get to the main road and grab a local bus back to ours, which laura enjoyed.
Bedtime for laura, so I went out for a walk along the harbour, very posh, all the posh hotels etc, afer my wander I settled in a grease spoon and read for an hour helping myself to 5chais, amusement to the waiters, but they are like a shot of tea all the servings, so I don't feel bad every time I walked past a chai guy having a shot!
I did enjoy my time alone, as I could de-stress, laura gets me all worked up at the indians as she gets so angry and aggravated at them, but I know its coz she needs time to adjust to it all, as it is difficult, she doesn't understand how I coped alone. So I was trying to explain with the whole yoga, massages, etc and dealing with it that's why I've been so emotional, which I hate and being ill makes it hard. When I got my eye infection I just wanted to cry down the phone to me mammy, all the dirt and crap off the road just aggravates them at the minute, so my eyesight is still rather blurred.xx
