Hospital time . . .
I was late for 7am chanting as I hadn't eating or drank since 1pm, so I went to have some water and ended up in the bathroom papping and trying not to throw up. To walk up all 218 stairs I thought I was going to collapse. It was like an out of body experience I have no idea how I made the 10 minute walk to class.
At 10ish I got put in a taxi to the Tibetan hospital where I attempted to sleep on the bench while Darren read to me. After a wait they got to number 45, walking to the doctor's office I thought I was going to collapse. A brief of the last two and a half weeks of being ill and my current symptoms were noted. An attempt to get my blood pressure, it was too low to get the diastolic, my systolic was 90 but I knew this already. I then had to take a stool sample, I got given a pot so small that the opening was like the width of my little finger, so I got given another pot to poo in which was like a thimble. Considering I was just peeing outta my bum this wasn't the easiest challenge to be doing squatting in the minging toilet trying not to pass out and fall down the loo.
I went to the lab where they took blood, well attempted. I was so cold my veins had vanished so the guy spent a while deciding which arm to use, tied a bit rope around it which nipped my skin then found the smallest vein ever after hitting my arm a few times, the blood just wasn't coming out, I could hear the empty sucking into the tube while he was drawing the blood out, when I looked he hadn't even filled the tiny tube by a quarter. I was told to return at 3.30 for my results.
So me and Darren went to llamos where I drank some apple and strawberry tea or something like that, I can only drink hot stuff. Went to class at 2 where we read out of the anatomy book, pleased I know this stuff so I left during the lecture to go back to the hospital with Darren. Both of us walking up the stairs to the hospital was a joke, I've never been so weak, Darren still has typhoid. The blind leading the blind. So I got given the results sheets which seemed healthy, my electrolytes, blood count, etc was all fine. So upstairs at the doctors the woman sat me down and explained blood is present in my stool, I'm s***ting blood, all my white and red blood cells and that I have a fresh parasite, still in its egg phase. So I have 10days of antiparasite drugs to take (dyrade-m ds, diloxanide furoate and metronidazole). I decided I must eat as water, just the thought of it repulsed me. So tomato soup with grilled brown Tibetan bread, just made me want to be sick. So I returned to my room and just slept 'til morning.
I have to say if Delhi wasn't so far away I woulda jumped on a plane home this morning. I was convinced it wasn't a parasite as I reacted so differently last time. xx
