We considered staying another day but this morning is cloudy so we decide to go on. At the service point we chat to Madame and she counts our nights and we confirm two nights. All seems OK, but as we drive away and wave goodbye she throws up her arms in a strange gesture. We puzzle over it for a couple miles then we start wondering if she thinks we didn't pay. Ali paid two nights at the same time as we bought our drinks on Sunday, maybe she forgot as it was busy. In the next town we stop and write a postcard explaining our concerns, maybe it will work, maybe not, it's all we can do.
We are heading towards Poiters then south. It's generally a pretty run and not too busy with plenty of sunflowers and golden corn.
There are a few options for tonight; we pick an aire in Nieul l'Espoir . The aire is peaceful with hedges and a large park. We head into town. It is billed as a quiet town. From the look of it, even Fete day would be quiet. There is a butcher, baker, bank, church and cafe. Only the cafe is open. The park is cool and the cafe does good ice cream.
On the way back we find a Proxi minimarket is also open. The cold counter is refreshing after the 33C heat outside. We buy a few things, return to the aire and have a quiche salad outside.
The temperature doesn't fall below 26C all night and it is stifling.
