Yesterday Steve had to go into work for a couple of hours because he left early to go to the wedding on Friday. But it wasn't too bad as I went in with him and just surfed the net.
After he did his work we went into the local sports store and I got a fleece and beanie (both North Face and super cheap! I now look like I'm sponsored by them though!) as it's getting pretty chilly now.
I was starving hungry as we hadn't had lunch so we went to McDonalds as it was nearby and cheap. I got a Mini Meal which was a McChicken Sandwich, small fries and a small drink - all for $3! Steve got a Southern Fried Chicken Burger (which he thought would be bigger), regular fries and regular strawberry milkshake (which was huge and had actual fruit in it unlike back in the UK!). We both agreed however that our visits to the american golden arches would be as frequent as they are back home - about once every few months!
Then we went to Safeway to do our weekly shop which mainly consisted of cereal, canned chilli, cereal bars, some fruit and veg and Toaster Streudels which are so good! The Pilsbury Doughboy rocks!
Whilst we were waiting for our bus home this guy started talking to us about how awful the buses are and that you can wait up to 45 minutes, I told him we'd already been waiting 30 mins! So he asked us where we lived and it turned out we lived around the corner from him and his boyfriend, so they suggested we get a taxi together, which we did and they very kindly paid for!
They were a really cool couple and told us about a free comedy festival which is this Sunday in Golden Gate Park so we'll probably go to that. Their names were Patrick and Michael and they'd gone to get one of their cats neutered, poor thing!
Patrick told us he's a stenographer (court room typist) and that he can type about 230 wpm on the special keyboard which doesn't have all the letters of the alphabet, so he has to compress a combination of keys to get certain letters. Michael is a masseur which is handy to know! Anyway, they invited round for a drink sometime so hopefully we can go round before we move...
...and on that subject things are starting to move along now. It's been a bit tricky because we have to get Steve's work to fill out forms for us etc. but we think everything is sorted now for a 24 Sept move!
