We were invited to visit Star's mum & step-dad's new condo which is located on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, so Star and Martin picked us up in their car which was cool as we got to see more of the City and got to cross the bridge!
There was quite a lot of traffic as it is Labour Day on Sept 1 which is like a bank holiday monday. But we managed to cross the bridge and find a parking space. The views from the bridge are amazing and we were so lucky with the weather, really hot and no mist! We walked along a little bit of the bridge but we hope to cycle or walk across the whole bridge another day.
We jumped back in the car and got to Star's mum's (Megan) place which is a new condo complex that Megan had bought with her husband Paulo. It was really nice and had a commercial space underneath which they hope to rent out as an art gallery to Star's sister who's an artist.
Paulo is an Italian translator and his mother was over from Italy visiting, so they cooked us an amazing Italian meal which was really tasty but a bit of a marathon meal! We started with crusty bread, parma ham and cheese. Then we had spaghetti (which I couldn't finish!) and salad (which I skipped too) and then shrimp (we had the whole shrimp vs prawns discussion!) and later there was coffee ice cream cake to eat!
We had a really good time and we saw some great photos of Megan and Paulo's huge ranch house which is up north. The photos were taken in December when it snowed about 4 feet deep - we never realised in snowed in SF!
Paulo and his mum were flying back to Italy the next day as Paulo's work is over there. He's going back for 3 weeks and then flying back to SF for 3 weeks and then going back to Italy. It's a 16 hour flight!!! So I won't be complaining about the 10 hours to the UK!
On the journey here we mentioned to Star and Martin that we hadn't seen the new Batman film yet so they said we should go to the cinema when we got back to the city. We got to the cinema at 9.30pm just in time to see the film which was about 3 hours long! I was soooo sleepy but managed to stay awake so hopefully my sleeping pattern will no longer be fall asleep at 9pm/wake up at 5am!
