Today we arrived in San Francisco! Can't quite believe we're here!

When we landed on Wed around 2pm SF time, we were met by Steve's friends Martin, James and Joe who picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at our hotel. It was really hot today, around 27C/80F, which was such a welcome change to the cold weather in the UK!

We're pretty happy with the hotel we're staying in, the room is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful - we needed some help on how to turn on the shower as it was a bit unusual!

Trying to beat jet-lag we managed to stay awake and went to grab a quick bite to eat at a Thai restaurant called Thai Stick around the corner from our hotel. Shortly after we sat down the waitress brought us some free iced water which was a pleasant surprise as we don't have this freebie without asking for it back in the UK! We later discovered that all restaurants in America give you as much free water as you can drink - bonus! OK it's the little things that make me happy!

After the waitress took our order of sticky rice with stir-fried beef & vegetables and a chicken mussaman curry, she said something else to me which I didn't understand and I assumed she was talking to me in Thai (because I obviously look Chinese but I don't speak Chinese, I always worry that if I enter any Oriental-type establishment then the staff will try to talk to me in what I consider to be a foreign language!!) so I said with a very blank look on my face "I'm sorry I don't speak [Thai]". She then repeated what she'd said with a puzzled look on her face "Would you like anything else to drink other than water?". Well of course this could sound like a million and one things if you think the person is saying it in Thai!! Steve thought this was hilarious and I tried to blame the jet-lag to get him to stop laughing at me!

Anyway, the meal was quick, tasty and really cheap so we were pretty happy!

When we got back to the hotel around 7.30pm Steve told me try and stay awake but I zonked out around 8pm so my sleeping pattern is pretty messed up already!
