Today was the 3 year anniversary of the day me and Steve met! We didn't have anything special planned for today as Steve thought our anniversary date was later in the week! So he was surprised when he found a card I'd bought him in his sock drawer this morning!
Steve got the OK to get the day off work because when he went in yesterday there was no PC set up for him and it wouldn't be ready until the end of today so he'd be sitting around doing nothing again!
We decided to spend the day doing one of our most favourite things - EATING! So we headed to The Cheesecake Factory (which is on the top floor of Macy's) as I'd raved about it to Steve from when I went to one in Orlando. They serve proper meals like steak and pasta too, but I told Steve we'd only be able to manage the cheesecake for lunch as the portions are huge.
So we just ordered a slice of cheesecake each and had iced cafe mochas as it was another really hot day - probably the hottest so far (Steve has been wearing his cap to ward off the sunburn!). We tried a little bit of each other's cheesecake and I definately liked mine better as it was lighter. We only managed to finish 2/3rds of our cakes, it was just too much!! Steve's tongue went numb!! So we got the rest to go and vowed not to eat cheesecake for quite a while. But we decided to come back later for dinner as the rest of the menu looked really appetising.
We spent the rest of the day browsing the shops and I got a new shirt from H&M (as seen in the photos!) and Steve wanted to buy a red hoody but they didn't have his size - all too big!
On the way back to the hotel we explored a bit more and found some restaurants we'd like to try, but after the invasion of cheesecake on our stomachs we didn't really want to think about food!
But it didn't take me long to get hungry again so around 7pm we headed back to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I'd already decided I was going to have steak and after some deliberation Steve decided to have it as well even though the pasta was calling his name!
Our waiter was called Chad (but Steve kept thinking it was Chuck, I guess he looked like a Chuck?!) and he was really helpful which was good because we both ordered our Steak to be cooked medium-well done, which over here means it should be slightly pink in the middle. Whilst my steak was perfectly cooked, Steve's was overcooked and a bit cold. So he sent it back and got a new dinner, then the manager came over and apologised for the mistake and offered us a free piece of cheesecake! If we hadn't had cheesecake overload at lunch I think we would have been really excited but we weren't going to turn down a freebie so we got the strawberry one to go which we'll eat tomorrow along with our steak leftovers!
It was a shame Steve's steak wasn't perfect first time but we still had a great time and it's such a refreshing change to have such great service in a restaurant and feel like they care about making the customer happy - that's my soapbox moment!
On our way back to the hotel there was a guy drumming on all sorts of junk like tin cans, plastic bins and even the floor! It was really cool so I took a bit of video so check it out! It was really dark so you can't really see much but hopefully the sound is OK.
