I felt so inspired to write today about all the beautiful things in life, but my smile quickly turned into a frown after I Googled "Galapagos Island endangered turtle " and came across an article headed: "Top 25 turtles on death row". Did they have to use the words "death row"?! Now I'm sure you're all wondering why I'm googling turtles so early on a Monday morning, but the reason is, my crazy friends Kirsten and Darren are on a round-the-world tour and currently in the Galapagos islands (the b*stards!!) and it reminded me of an article I read about a turtle (in the Galapagos Islands) who is the LAST of his kind left!!! And every time I tell someone about "Lonesome George" (the turtle) and how sad it is that he's the LAST one, people just gimme this look of "Liesl, why are you telling me this?". Poor George!
(Ha! I just found it?. For those of you interested go check it out: http://dsc.discovery.com/news/afp/20030519/turtle.html)
My uncle and his wife arrived back from their road trip around England last night and I managed to convince Marcos to help me cook dinner for them (how I convinced him, I have no idea), so the four of us sat chatting until late last night. (Actually, Marcos did all the cooking. I just kept on topping up his wine glass. That's the trick really.). Marcos is a really good cook, Fazita you taught him well!!!
Saturday I went to Sean and Maxine's place for a x-mas lunch. They decorated their place all x-massy with tinsel and some x-mas crackers... we even did the secret-santa present exchange! Sooo cool! I have to also mention that Maxine is the Queen of Punch (no people, that's not some English empire, but indeed a vodka-spiked drink) - she makes a KILLER punch.
I decided to not go to the boat party. Yes, you heard right. Unusual for me, I know. I figured it would be much more fun staying at Sean and Max's place (which it was) and rumours told me afterwards that the boat party got a tad out of hand (giving certain people the evil eye) and I'm glad I had my thinking cap on beforehand. I feel really good today! Max gave me some Trinidian... er.. Trinadian... no, erm.... Trinidadian ( oh whatever, they from Trinidad basically), and she gave me some seriously super-cool green tablets (aka drugs). Drugs are GREAT. (Hehe, I love to scare my parents. Its kinda fun). It was for my sinus and to keep my intestines inside cause I've been coughing them up every morning (a bit more graphic than intended). It did help the nose yesterday and it also made me sleep really well, but today I'm back to square one. This morning my coughing was so bad that I was scared a whole lung might fall out!!I just finished a yoga class and I feel GREAT. My yoga instructor's one-toned voice saying: "Inhale into cat, exhale ...rooound the spine. Inhale into downward-facing dog. Exhale lower the heels. Inhale ...bend the elbows...exhale into cobra" is very soothing. It really helps for the stress. I felt as light as a feather when I left the class!!
Well that's all folks! To all the mails: thanks guys!! Just a quick special mention to Chantal who got engaged: CONGRATULATIONS GIRLFRIEND!!! Sending you all love and hugs and kisses and more love xxxx- comments
