Ok, so there i was walking in the rain, grabbing every possible newspaper that gets shoved in my face and as i'm standing there waiting for the 5-min-bus to take me to the tube station, i thought to myself "So many reading material!! i think i'm gonna skip the tube and take the long bus home ...". So there I am with my big fluffy jacket, balancing my umbrella, and managing to hold (or not hold) 4 different newspapers and my bag. In the pouring rain. Of course. So when the bus finally came in trying to fish out my bus ticket in my bag i managed to get soaking wet in the process.(Surprise!) I was just getting comfy in my chair on the upper deck, taking off my jacket, putting my bag on the floor, and taking out my first newspaper, (this is of course very exciting, cause everybody reads newspapers here, so i felt like I'm really getting the hang of being a London-City-Girl). Imagine my utter dispair as i take out the newspaper and its soaking wet. So after reading the only articles that were legible - "War criminal is found living in Surrey" and "British Soldiers made me drink their urine" and "New spray to kill flu on trains ", I found myself staring out the window wondering what i'm gonna wear to work the next day. Thats the moment when i realised London is rubbing off on me. (Oh, and the fact that i keep on saying "D'you know wha' i mean?") And thats also the moment that i thought i should invest in a good book, cause the newspaper can be very depressing.
Marcos and I have been stressed out of our brackets, because we're still trying to find a place to live! Oh, and for those of you who dont know: we have to move this weekend! crazy hey!? But we're viewing 3 places tonight and 1 tomorrow night, so i need you all to say a prayer tonight, ok?! Things have been rather busy. We've had 2 really big 30th b'days recently, so in having a proper party on the weekend to celebrate and then having a "quite dinner on the day", we've hardly been at home! On Sunday we went to one of Marcos' friends, Ryan, and he made us a Sunday Roast. Was really nice. You know, some people standing outside huddled under an umbrella having a smoke, some people cooking in the kichen, someone pouring wine, some people watching the Grand Prix (how rude!! *looking really guilty*), someonone crying their eyes out cause Shumi didn't win (*looking really guilty again*) so all-in-all it was such a nice relaxing day with friends. Oh and then walking back in the rain hand-in-hand.... Was a nice day!
Friday night i went with a friend of mine to a comedy evening while Marcos went for drinks at another friends house. The comedy evening turned rather weird as some drunk guy started shouting at the comedian to "tell a joke" and "he's sh!t", so they ended up having quite a heated argument... it was rather entertaining i must add! (I've always been the sucker standing on the side line shouting: punch him! punch him!! haha!) So with the comedian shouting really loud over the mice...mike... mic... microphone (how would you spell the shortened version? ...?) it gave me quite a headache. So then i decided to go join Marcos... what a mission! Not fun, having to take a tube, a train, a bus and a taxi only to be dropped off at the garage and then getting totally lost. (We did discovery tho that Marcos' left and my left aint the same thing and its not just me being my blonde self.... ;-) ). But it was still an eventful evening.
A bit on the topic of the language barrier: did you know that "cheers" means "thank you" in London and not "bye"? I was getting instructions from my boss the other day over the phone, and when he said " cheers", I said "oh, ok bye". Imagine the awkward silence and confused way he said "oh ok bye". Afterwards i realised he was saying "thanks" and was still in the middle of the instruction....How blind!!!
My lunch is kinda over and I still haven't eaten my piece of cake! I got a free piece of cake today cause i've been at the local Cafe everyday for lunch. So i think they're considering me a "regular". Cool hey. Now i just need a newspaper to go with that piece of cake... Chat soon, hope you're all well!!xxxxxxx
