London truly is an amazing place.... there's never a dull moment and always full of exciting ideas and new adventures.... like, for example, roller-disco-ing.
There i was a few weeks ago arriving in this dodgy part of town on my way to roller-disco-ing... feeling scared and lost and nearly in tears.... weird people everywhere and being totally convinced that tonight is the night i'm gonna die in this dark part of London.... i did actually end up having a little cry cause when i flagged down a cab, he told me its TOO CLOSE AND I MUST WALK. (Dad, no, it wasn't actually THAT bad, i'm just creating a nice scenery for my story). So after standing in the cold waiting to get into the place - it was me, Dianne, Dean, KIRSTEN and Darren (Oh, and see if you can spot who was the one who pee'd behind a jeep in the parking lot...hehehe!), we finally stepped foot into .... a different world. Nearly everybody was dressed up in 60's and 70's: big afro wigs, lots of cheezy jewelry, bright pink tights with tiiiny little shorts... everybody went ALL OUT with their outfits! Also, everybody was doing the roller-scating-thing, but i found my butt being glued to the couch, because i just couldn't keep my balance on those stupid wheels!! The place had about 3 different dance floors and everybody would just skate round-and-round-and-round-and.... to the beat of really funky music!! Such an awesome place! I'm now very motivated to take skating lessons in summer - you can take lessons in Hyde Park. Really cool.
But even tho London has really funky things to do and places to go to, it also has a cruel side to it. Like, an incredibly sad reality in life is suicide. And a really gruesome way people commit suicide here in London is by jumping infront of a train. (Jeez, but what an AWESOME topic!!). I guess I mention it, because if you've never been to London - its something that dont even cross your mind!! On the odd ocassion you'll be on a train when it comes to a complete standstill in the middle of no-where and then after a few minutes you'll get the announcement: "Sorry for the delay, we have a body on the tracks". Then the murmurs will slowly go through the train ... "its a jumper"... "its a jumper".... "what happened?".... "its a jumper"....*rolling eyes*......."how inconsiderate"..."yeah, how inconsiderate!!"... People here get very annoyed, cause you can find yourself being stuck on a train for HOURS. And will you believe that some people actually survive it? Crikey!
Ok, enough of that depressing topic.
Tomorrow is my last day at work .....YAY!!!!!.... and then straight after work i'm taking the TRAIN TO GATWICK and then i'll be SPREADING MY WINGS TO FLYYYY over to sunny south africa!!!
Thanks for all the mails i've been receiving - always nice to hear what's hap'nin on the otherside of the world!!!
Lotsa love!!
and SEE YOU SOOOOON!!!
