So let me start with Friday. Friday night was our work x-mas doo. Ok, so in the past any work x-mas doo that i attended was always like semi-formal, maybe a bit causal or just work clothes. *long pause with painful expression on face* ... not in London. In London the work doo would be an extra-formal, ball gown, bling-bling affair. I mean, when they say "black tie optional" i thought men would prefer to not wear a tie. (*being very defensive*). So there i was in my high black boots and short brown dress....eek! (I just kept on saying to myself "i'm a foreigner, i'm a foreigner" just to feel a bit better. Cause when you're a "foreigner" anything goes.) After a few glasses of wine i didn't really care anymore either. My boss got a bit hammered and decided to have this real in-depth conversation with me about work and life and then we ended up on politics... and i couldn't remember our presiden'ts name. I knew it was Thabo, but Thabo who? I also knew it started with an "M", so i just ended up calling him "Thabo M". You know, as in "thats-what-we-call-him-in-south-africa". .....*sigh*...sometimes i can be such a blonde...
Saturday morning we went to Bath. The drive there was really stressful as neither of us have driven a car in more than 6 months, let alone traffic in central London! hectic! But by the time we arrived in Bath, we just couldn't stop staring at the amazing beauty of the place! Its such a quaint little dorpie, with cobble stone roads and little markets everywhere! We had such an awesome time! We saw the oldest house in Bath, Sally Lunn's house, and also had some lunch there. We went to the chocolate festival ( DEVINE !!) (and yes Dave, i did get you some chilli chocolate and no Kirsten, i havevn't forgotten about you either!). There were also markets everywhere and i just wanted to spend money, but Bath is seriously expensive! Such a rip-off!! We went to the Roman Baths on Sunday which Marcos really enjoyed. I found it a bit... too.... modernised. Its like they built a modern building over the ancient baths. And the baths are not exactly like they used to be, as a few decades ago they rebuilt them! (restored them or something - i was only half-listening...*blush*) so what you're looking at is not the baths as zillions of years ago, but more like 1920. It was still very interesting tho! (and it gave me some great decorating ideas for my house one day!) I really wanted to go see one of the castles, but we left Bath too late as they closed at 16:00 :-(
This week is also a bit of a quiet one. Just gone home everyday, and vegged in front of the TV. My house-mates are really awesome and i'm enjoying it so far. Tomorrow night is Marcos x-mas doo so i'm gonna go to some friends for dinner. I dont really wanna go cause they're SUCH boring people, but they forcing me. (Just kidding!! looking forward do D's spag bol. BTW kirsten, would that be Darren or Dean or Di? And for those of you who were wondering what the hec "spag bol" is... apparently its spaghetti bolonaise. for some reason i kept on thinking it had something to do with Spongebob Squarepants?!).
Also on Saturday i'm tripple-booked. As it is my housemates b'day, plus Robyn is having some fancy-dress x-mas party, PLUS then its Mandy's 30th.... tch-tch-tch, what can i say if you're popular, you're popular. But marcos and i thought to try to attend everything, but imagine pitching at Mandy's 30th dressed up as Easter Bunnies or Scooby-Doo? Regardless, it will be an exciting evening.
Hope everybody is well. Thanks for all the mails i've been receiving!! Nice to hear how HOT you guys are! (Yes, Sathar you are very hot, but i meant hot as in degrees). Also, i dont think the hot weather is gonna last, cause Michelle worked in the GARDEN yesterday and that means its gonna SNOW. Michelle and i really should do a course on how to be more domesticated though. I've been trying to invite Marcos for dinner all week, and all he keeps on saying is: "i dont want to have chips and biscuits for dinner". As IF i've been having that for dinner *guilty look and quickly hiding the papers under my bed*. Mom, stop giving me that look, i'll be having Spongebob for dinner tomorrow night, so see, i am eating healthy! Love you lots!xxx
