Well, yesterday I had written a nice long update but I took too long and got logged off and lost everything I wrote. I'll try to recap what I wrote. I love long weekends! I'm on day 2 of a 5 day weekend. Tomorrow a big group of us are going to Berlin for the weekend. I'm excited. Then I can get to know the city a little bit before Erin comes so I know where to go. I've been pretty busy in the past week. Last Wednesday I met my cousin Christopher. He came with his girlfriend and her sister who was visiting from Hannover. They were all pretty nice. We went up in the City Hochhaus to show Maria (his girlfriend's sister) the city. We chatted for a little bit over a beer and then went for ice cream. We didn't hang out for too long though because I was meeting everyone at a pub to watch the soccer game and he was going to a friends to do the same. I invited them to catch up with us at Moritzbastei later that night but he sent me a text later that they were too tired. We haven't been able to get together since but hopefully we will soon. He and his girlfriend are both studying medicine so they're understandably busy. Thursday night I met Dr. Brodsky for dinner. She was in town doing research. I was 15 minutes late meeting her because my tram was late. She was just heading for the restaurant when I got there. We went to a nice Italian restaurant. It was really good. We ended up staying there and talking for 4 hours! I didn't get home till around 11 that night. Saturday was Christina's birthday and she had people over to celebrate. Kali, Beth, and I gave her a Swarovski butterfly necklace, because she loves butterflies. She absolutely loved it. I had a really good time talking to her friends that she's made here. They were all really nice and it was nice to practice my German a bit. We all went to Moritzbastei later. It was really crowded so it was kinda hard to dance but we managed. Tuesday was Jon's birthday so we all met up at a mexican restaurant for dinner and drinks. It didn't go over very well but we had a decent time chatting. I won't go into the details here though. Yesterday I had a pretty productive day. It took me a while to get going but I did get a load of laundry done fairly early. Later in the afternoon I headed to the library to work on finding things for my music history class and get started on finding sources for my capstone paper. I didn't find what I was looking for for the music history class but I found a ton on my topic for my research. Most of their catalogue is still in a card catalogue so I had to flip through everything. Not too bad though. The city library has a great music section so there were plenty of resources. When I got home I worked on organizing what I found. Needless to say, I had taken my medicine and it was working quite well. However, it ended up making me so focused that I lost my appetite and then didn't go to Moritzbastei. I literally almost felt high. Not that I know what that feels like but I was pretty out of it. So I stayed in and kept reading. I'm reading The Valkyrie by Wagner right now. Today I've been a little lazy. Couldn't get going today. I finally got around to doing some more reading and eventually started cleaning my room. I'm taking a break from that now. Not sure what I'm doing tonight. Haven't heard from anybody yet. Tomorrow we're leaving for Berlin after the boys get out of class. I'll update with pictures and a recap next week.
