Krystal's Travels
I bought my train tickets for this weekend. I'm excited about going.
Yesterday a bunch of us met in the park to hang out and play soccer. So Jon, Darren, Chris, and I were kicking the ball around, making fun of Kali and Beth dancing when Darren falls. Immediately his ankle started swelling so we thought it might be broken. It swelled up to the size of a baseball! Of course since we're in Germany nobody has a car so we had to figure out another way of getting him to the hospital. So Jon and Chris start carrying him. This might not normally be a big feat except for that Darren is 6'7". Chris is about a foot shorter if that and Jon is probably about 5'11". They decided pretty quickly that the two of them carrying him together wouldn't work so they started taking turns carrying him piggyback. I have pictures...they'll be coming soon. Finally we got him to the general vicinity of the university hospital and found some ambulance drivers to drive him the rest of the way. Then apparently, they just dropped him off and put him on a stretcher inside and didn't tell any of the doctors he was there cause when we went to figure out how everything worked, he hadn't been put in the computer yet. So we got that straightened out. His wallet had been stolen in Spain the weekend before so he didn't have his insurance card but Jon showed them his and told them that Darren has the same card. Apparently since they're EU citizens they have some card that gives them free healthcare. So after about 2 or 3 hours they finally let him go. He just has a sprain but I think it's a pretty bad one judging by how it swelled and how nauseous he got. Now the poor guy has to hobble on crutches.
We also found out right before Darren's incident that our friend Daniel had fallen Saturday night after the club and broke two bones in his foot. Now my foot problems don't seem so bad. It hasn't really been bothering me lately though. I think kicking the ball around yesterday helped stretch it out a little.
That's all for now. Tschau!
