Krystal's Travels
Berlin was awesome! My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend there (well, that and the fact I forgot to pack underwear, but that's another story). We (Kali, Beth, Emma, Becky, Chris, Darren, and I) left on Friday and arrived around 1:30. We couldn't check into our hostel until 3 and we were all hungry, so we went across the street to the golden arches. When we went to check into the hostel, we found out that the people working there were completely incompetent and it took forever to check in. After that ordeal Kali led us around the city. We saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and a bunch of other sites. We avoided the celebration of the opening of the new main station and I'm glad we did (see this article if you don't know what I'm talking about http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12997092/).
Saturday we slept in and finally headed out around noon. We went to Checkpoint Charlie and a memorial of the Wall. It was pretty interesting. We also went to the Berlin Cathedral but it was too late to go in. I was really disappointed about that. It was beautiful on the outside though. I love cathedrals.
I hope I get a chance to go back there. I'm waiting until after the World Cup is over though. Sorry, Erin, we're going to have to go somewhere else. I'm not braving Berlin two days before the starting day. There won't be anywhere to stay and everything will be so crowded that we wouldn't be able to do anything. I really wish I could take her there because it's such a cool city. Luckily Germany has plenty of neat places so we'll stay busy.
Sunday we decided to catch the train early instead of waiting for a later train. We were
to stay longer but the weather wasn't so great and we didn't want to chance getting stuck in the rain for the next 5 hours.
Traveling tires me out, but it's sooo worth it!
