When we finally brave the cold and open the blinds everywhere around is white with frost and the sky is clear and blue.
We bid our hosts farewell after buying some cidre and begin a reverse run of our trip along the pink Granite Coast exactly three months ago. The temperature varies from 3 to 8C but there is lots of frost on the roads and fields until we get to the coast at St Michel en Greve. We pull in above the empty beach and Ali and Grete walk around the corner to find a boulangerie. It is shut but a sign tells them to get bread at the nearby tabac, which they do. They also visit he little maritime church on a smal quay.
Everything looks different going west to east but it is just as spectacular as before and the colours look good in the sunshine. We pause for lunch in the cliff top layby at Ploumanac'h looking over to Grand Isle which is brown today, not white with sea birds like September.
The route continues through Perros Guirec town, harbour and beachfront wth everything high and dry and all the rocks exposed at low tide, before turnng inlsnd towards Treguier.
Arriving at Treguier the first stop is Super-U then we go down to the aire by the river. The woods, thick green in summer, are light, airy and devoid of foliage. And in summer the aire was full, tonight we are two of the three vans here.
Although we plan to go into town tomorrow, Ali and Grete go up in the late afternoon for a quick look. Christmas decorations are up but not illuminated but the girls stay long enough for the town's normal lights to come on.
As the sun sets beyond our view the incoming tide in the river casts lovely reflections.
Spaghetti Bolognaise for dinner.
p.s. The title is pink granite coast the other way
