The only sound this morning is that of water drops and leaves falling on the roof from the trees behind us. Despite the early sun it's only 7C and porridge seems a good idea for breakfast.
We leave around 11:00 and have an easy drive on dual carriageway alongside mostly flat landscape lit beautifully by the sunshine. Coloured trees, bright grass and dark earth stretch for miles.
The aire at Nozay didn't seem to have services so we divert into Mauleon where there is a small free aire. After filling Mary*Lou with water and ourselves with soup we do a fuel stop at the nearby Super-U before continuing east and south cross country past Parthenay.
For a while we have showers and the temperature drops from 13C to 1.5C. Rain turns to sleet and the sky to our north is black while from the south bright sun lights up the trees in dramatic style.
The squall only lasts for 10 or so miles before it brightens up as we rejoin the dual carriageway for the last 20 miles to Camping Rejallant at Ruffec. We are led to our pitch and get hooked up to the electricity and wi-fi.
The couple on the next pitch are heading back to England after a month in Morocco.
