Shall we backtrack?
Well yesterday was my first class at Park Campus. The 45 minute walk went quickly being accompanied by Carson and Louise. It's for the most part a simple walk and actually quite pretty, but what isn't here? The class is Intro to World Cinema. And let me tell you, there is nothing intro about it. Keep in mind these kids here don't take any classes outside their major so this class is for people that are majoring in film studies and clearly already have an interest in film. So we got to talking about foreign film...and I have never felt so dumb. most stuff was way above my head. Then we had to get into groups and the Americans grouped up with 3 English folk. They were really nice to us and created a nice discussion. Well apparently we did a good job fitting in that day because no one was aware Americans were in the room and they kinda started to rip apart Hollywood remakes and when we dub foreign films over into English. Some girl was sure to mention they hate our accent, cool. Needless to say, I wanted to speak up but of course I really didn't know much about the topic. Carson had knowledge in some stuff and eventually spoke up about the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. At that point, everyone turned and looked at us. Yup, they knew we were Americans then.
It wasn't a big deal, but the class might be hard seeing as how I have no knowledge in the subject.
On the way back Carson starts talking about this place called Aroma and how they have this awesome bacon baguette. Now, no one in their right mind can think that sounds like a bad idea. And it only cost 99p! So we stop in and Carson orders one with HP sauce and I have no idea what that is, but being adventurist Kelsey now, I went with it and got the same thing. My instincts told me to get in plain like everything else in my life, (or just use ketchup =]) But it was amazing. It might become a staple on the way back from Park because I am starving by the time that class ends.
Later that night a bunch of Americans met up at a little pub place and watched soccer...errr football. Right, I do not care at all about the sport, but I just love these people here. It's always a good time to just hang out with them and it's hard to do being over in Pittville when they are all in Regency.
Back to the present day. I had no classes today so of course I decided to go shopping. Linsdey, Louise, and I left around 11:30 and made some pretty good time into town. The day started out rather nice. These shops here are so dangerous. It makes me want to spend so much money. I finally broke into my back account instead of using the 70 pounds we're allotted each week. Yes, my own money people, not my parents! I bought so preeeety cute clothes, so if it's nice enough out tomorrow, I might break those out. =]
Then the two best purchases in my life were made today, yes this surpassed my $107 straightener.
A pillow and new earbuds.
I was given a sorry excuse for a pillow and I will sleep like a baby tonight with this wonderful new one. The earbuds took forever to find, but I got a nice blue pair for kinda cheap so I am a happy camper. After that, we were ready to call it a day but stopped for lunch at Aroma, like I said, that place is pretty good. So we actually sat down and ordered some food. Upon leaving we ran into some Americans from Regency so we talked to them for probably 30-45 minutes.
From there I have tried to be productive..but come on people, it's me. I did some reading for my class on Monday and realized I need another book, oh well I'll try to get that tomorrow! But then I finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and I have to say I am sad to see it end. Don't get me wrong, all three were great novels, but I would have loved for there to be more. =/ Oh well, such is life.
All in all, I'm doing great here. I know it is going to be so tough to leave. Part of me wishes I had the guts to move here after I graduate, but who knows. We shall see. Maybe I'll update a bit more tomorrow. Who knows!?
