Well yes, I did just have a final yesterday and another one tomorrow, but when in Europe right? On Monday Logan asked me if I wanted to go to Wales with her on either Wednesday or Thursday. I technically had nothing to do on Thursday, so why not? Chances are I would not have studied anyway. Carson, the one who is basically always up for anything joined along with us!
We bought train tickets for only 20 pounds round trip! Carson and I walked to Regency to meet Logan and walk into town to catch the bus. As we got there, one was pulling away but as the bus says on the back "Another one comes every 10 minutes!" Lies, straight lies. We waited a bit and got scared we were going to miss our train at 10:11. The bus finally shows up. It pained me everytime it stopped somewhere else. We get to the station and jog inside to print out our tickets. A man was printing out his tickets so we had to wait a bit. There should have been plenty of time if the machine worked like something designed within the last 100 years. Logan input all the information and it was out of our control. Since the tickets took about 5 minutes just to print, we missed the train. What we should have done was buy new tickets for the next train but we were going to test our luck. We had to wait another hour for the next train to Cardiff but we seemed to entertain ourselves. When that one showed up, we just hopped on and everything worked out for us!
We started out by just wandering, which the best idea ever. We knew we were hungry so we picked a random pub and order food. We all got this pie that was delicious and filling, so I didn't even finish it all! We went to Millennium Stadium, home to the Welsh Rugby Union and bought tickets to the tour later that day. I don't exactly understand all the rules to rugby but I know it's pretty awesome and Carson seemed to want the tour, so I was down. Next we went to check out Cardiff Castle. It was a bit too pricey to go into and apparently not completely worth it. We took as many pictures as we could and moved along.
We had to go a bit south to experience Mermaid Quay (pronounced key) It's basically just a bay but beautiful! it was a rainy day but I still thought it was a pretty place! There was even a church that Rolad Dalh used to attend! We were entertained by some swans for too long and then headed back for our tour! It was an impressive staduim with a contractable roof. After that we had some time to kill. Carson went off to find a sports shop as Logan and I tried to find this place in the guidebook that looked like a good place to eat. Not only was the entire town shut down for the day, but this place literally was shut down. So are choices were every limitted so we hung out in starbucks for a bit!
What I should have mentioned right away was that Welsh is the weirdest language I have ever encountered. As Carson said, it's like you let a child sit a a keyboard and just type away.
All in all, it was a pretty good day! We took the train home and then walked to Regency. Carson and I went in as well and hung out with Erika, Erika, and Emmitt. I seriously never get sick of them!
I was happy to add one more country to my list and hopefully one day I will be able to explore it more!
