Life in Oz!
I knew I had to decide quick where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do because ticket prices were only going to get more expensive the longer I waited. It ended up taking me most of the day to get everything organised and tickets bought but I have a plan now! On Monday 19 June, I will be departing from the Brisbane airport at 8:30am and flying to Perth. On Thursday the 22nd I will be flying to Alice springs to spend a day in the city before leaving on Sunday for the Cloud 9 tour from Alice springs up to Darwin. It is a 9 day, 8 night tour covering everything between the 2 cities. I am very excited about this because I will be seeing almost everything there is to see in this area. If you want to check it out and be able to track where I will be each day check out the web site. www.adventuretours.com.au/index.php/newtravel/nt/09_day_cloud_9_alice_springs_to_darwin/ I will arrive the evening of 2 July in Darwin to spend a few days exploring before I fly to Adelaide on Tuesday 4 July. On 7 July I will be commencing my 3 day tour from Adelaide to Melbourne and seeing everything I between again. The web site for this tour is www.adventuretours.com.au/index.php/newtravel/SA/03_day_adelaide_melbourne_safari/ I will arrive in Melbourne the evening of 9 July and seeing the sights of this European style city. On the evening of Wednesday 12 July Virgin Blue airlines will take me to Sydney airport where I will attempt to spend the night in order to depart for the States at 9:45am. I will then arrive at MSP airport at 3:15pm the same day, which makes for an incredibly short trip here compared to the 2 days it took me to get here. I am seeing a lot in the 3 ½ weeks I have to travel but I am really excited for all of it. From what I have heard, the west is vastly different from here on the east coast. Once I leave Australia, I will have visited every state and territory except Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). I was tempted to squeeze Tasmania in but decided I wasn't spending enough time everywhere else already. I didn't get much else accomplished even though I need to start studying for my Community Work essay exam that is coming up on Thursday. I decided I better figure out how to get my other suitcase home so I looked online at the companies the uni suggested at our pre-departure session. It would cost $300-400 to send it home, which I wasn't too excited about. I was telling Emma about the dilemma when she suggested that I send it to Sydney instead. I started looking into that instead but didn't get very far because it was late so everything was closed and I couldn't get very accurate estimates online.
