Life in Oz!
I woke up at about 9am and don't have class until noon on Tuesdays so I decided to do some laps in the pool. My class is Walking Sites: Cultural Heritage Tours. I think it will be very interesting but he said from the start that the class is a lot of work and research but those who stick with it find it very rewarding. The course explores cultural tourism and cultural heritage. I will have to produce a Walking Tours booklet detailing the historical and cultural heritage significance of sites, views, trees and other significant aspects of the walk. I'm thinking of exploring the neighbouring town of Buderim for the booklet because it looked very interesting when I went on the bus tour last Friday. I want to think of something very original and interesting because the booklet is worth 55% of my grade! The class goes from noon to 3pm, not excited about that but we got out after an hour. I decided I should probably buy my books and got to wait in line for a ½ hour to do so. I got buy pretty cheap though because 2 of my classes have to same 2 books. My roommate Emma was really bored and I needed to do some things in Chancellor Park so we decided to walk up there. We got a ride there from Melinda because she was going in that direction anyway. I went to the bank and finally activated my account so I don't have to pay a transaction and conversion fee every time I use my credit card from home. We then went to Woolworth's to get a few groceries in case some of my friends decided to BBQ tonight. Shopping and the walk back was a lot of fun because we were being stupid and laughing a lot. We sat around for a while back at the apartment and then I went to see if Sara was around. We ended up watching Wheel of Fortune -Aussie style...no Vannah White. Fridays (a nightclub) in Mooloolaba has $2 Tuesdays and a discount cover charge for students on Tuesdays so we decided to go there. I got ready and then walked around with Sara and Keise until it was time to catch the bus. We took the regular city bus to get there but then had to take a Maxi Taxi (10 person van) back to UniCentral. It was a lot of fun, there were a lot of people there but the night got long. We got to Fridays about 10 and only left at 2, it closes at 3. Going to Fridays can get expensive without even buying any drinks, the bus to get there was just under $2, it was $5 to get upstairs and about $4 each for the Maxi Taxi to get back.
