Life in Oz!
I had to get up at start week 2 of class this morning. My lecture was at 10, which was pretty interesting; we talked about what community work is and the welfare state. I have my tutorial for this class right after it from 11-1. I was sad because I forgot what time I was done with class and was supposed to have breakfast with Sara and Keise at 11 but couldn't go. We formed groups in our tutorial; we have to come up with a budget thing for a group that needs it. I think it will be sort of like grant writing. My group seems pretty nice, there are four of us. Tracey is older and is working for an organisation so we might be able to work off something she has already done which will hopefully make our project easier. Whittney is from Australia and Charlene is originally from the UK but moved here two years ago. We basically had the whole time to talk to our groups and to figure out what times work best for getting together. We got out a little bit early which was nice, 3 hours of one class in the same day is a lot. After class I came back to my room and then decided to go to Sunshine Plaza to do some shopping. The bus was going to be leaving shortly so I didn't have time to find anyone to come with me. I did see Joanna and Kate in the pool on my way and they invited me to their BBQ they were going to have later that night. I didn't do much at the mall, I kinda bummed around and then went shopping at Coles which is another grocery store. When I got back to campus, I put my groceries away and then went to Joanna's apartment to see when we were BBQing. They were getting everything ready so I went back to my place and met them down at the BBQ area. I bought some bbq flavoured chicken kebabs at the store and they turned out to be really good. There were a lot of people BBQing when we got down there, it was fun to talk to everyone but it was hard to grill because there are only three grill spots. I met a few more people while down there and the food was really good too. It was the first time I got to BBQ here. We decided to go swimming after we finished eating. It was a little chilly at first but then it warmed up. We thought it was going to start raining again but it didn't. It is still raining off and on sporadically but not as frequently as it was a few days ago; it is raining more at night then during the day. The temperature has cooled off maybe a few degrees because of it but it has gotten a lot more humid, so it almost feels worse then the hotter temperatures. After we got out of the pool, Joanna and I went over to Alan and Rob's apartment. Alan is Irish and Rob is an Aussie. I met them the night of the UniCentral BBQ, they are a lot of fun.
