Life in Oz!
The bus was leaving for Brisbane at 8:30 so I met Joanna and the girls at 8:15 by the pavilion. I sat by Sara and Keise on the bus because I hadn't seen them for a while. I finally got to talk to Jocelyn (from NDSU) and see how her backpacking went before she came to the Sunshine Coast. It took a little over an hour to get where we were getting dropped off in Brisbane. We got dropped off on the southbank of the Brisbane River with a map of the area. Sara and Keise decided to stay the night with a bunch of other people to go on a boat cruise. I wanted to stay but I had signed up for a Hinterland tour tomorrow. The three of us headed across the Victoria Bridge to the Queen Street Mall so they could get outfits for tonight. Our first stop was Subway for some brunch. Then we went shopping all afternoon, there are tons of shops and most of it is pretty reasonable in price. They also needed to get a hostel for the night so we went looking for one. The first one we found didn't have room for both of them in the same room so he sent us to a different one but we couldn't find it so we had to ask a few people. During our search, we got stuck watching an anti-communism protest that was marching down the street. They got onto a 4-share room with two guys already in it. The room was small and it was a typical hostel. We stopped at Hungry Jack to get a burger, the sign is exactly like Burger King except the name and the whopper was just as crappy as in the states. I left Sara and Keise at about 2:15 because I needed to be back at the Southbank to get on the bus at 3pm. I stopped in a few souvenir shops to look around and took a few pictures along the way because it is only about a 10-minute walk back. I talked to Matilda the whole way back to Uni and we concluded that I am going to nanny in Germany next summer; I think it sounds like a pretty good idea. I was really tired so I took a nap for about an hour after we got back. Matilda called and asked if I wanted to go out or do anything. I was too tired to go out so we decided to watch a movie again. We wanted to go and get ice cream and the little IGA not far from here but it was closed, just like everything else around here, it closes very early. We had to settle for Nutella and candy from the machine instead. We tried an Aero bar. It was chocolate on the outside and minty bubbles on the inside, it was interesting, not bad I guess. We watched 8 Mile and then I came back and went to bed.
