A 3 hour drive brought us to Westport on the west coast of the south island. We arrived with the rain hammering down, somehow we managed to get our tent up okay. We didn't do much here as we didn't fancy walking about in the rain, so we pretty much hung round the hostel all day. Its the first day while we've been here in New Zealand that its rained all day and we did both feel a little fed up (Lee more so than Lynz as she was beating him playing cards). By about 7pm time the rain had still not stopped and didn't look like stopping either, the owner of the Bazil's Hostel said we could sleep in the TV room on the sofa if our tent was wet inside, which was relly nice of her especially as we only paid $20 for the tent site. Lee went to take a look at the tent and even though it is "waterproof" they was still a little bit of water inside, so we jumped at the offer and spent the night with our sleeping bags on the sofa watching TV! So what first started as a misrable day turned into quite a nice comfy evening. Setting off today to head for Greymouth lets hope the rain will stop!
