We've been here for 3 days now and have had a very active time. Like most places in New Zealand its all about the walking and hiking and to see spectacular views of the Franz Josef Glacier you have to go on one of the longer walks. Its strange that the sun is still out and its warm yet we san see this massive block of ice shadowing the town. Altogether we have done about 5 hours of walking over the 3 days here. Lee got a little closer to the glacier on a 3 hour guided glacier walk, which took him on the ice. Walking on the ice was such a brilliant experience and something he would definatelty not be able to do at home. Being on the glacier you got to see some amazing sights and there was definately one or two Kodak moments! In total Lee was on the glacier for over 2 hours and he didn't even slip once!! Lynz wasn't interested in going for a long hike so early in the morning and just chilled round the very nice Franz Josef Rainforest Retreat accomadation all morning. We are going to spend the rest of our night here with a few well deserved beers, but theres more walking to come as we head to Fox Glacier tomorrow...
